I read it as the opposite of the beginning of an era of doctors as employess. As I read it they are looking to BRING in and ED group to work under a contract with the hospital.

I am a fairly recent board certified EM graduate that totally disagrees with the blanket firing of a group such as this.

My question with their current system is who decides where in the ED the crazy bipolar pregnant 15 year old patient complaining of chest pain and RLQ pain gets sent to in the department, or do they get to rotate whrough all six areas of the department?

To some extent, this is the beginning of the new era of doctors as employees, where more doctors are giving up their autonomy in favor of a salary, no practice business hassles, etc.
We will probably see a gradual disappearance of ED docs who have their own practice and work under a contract with an ED.
