So is the oxygen to get a REALLY hot fire, or to rescue a barbeque-er overcome by carbon monoxide?

Looks like it could be both, the one with a regulator for the BBQ-er and the other one to really get the fire going.
I would, however, watch out for flying objects if you used it though, either lots of small burning ones or one large missile.

The patient, and their family, had been planning a cookout. It got sidetracked to the ED.
As I recall there was picnic food on a counter you cannot see.
Nobody wanted to use the O2 with it.

a certain ER doc behaved very badly on the fourth. i… i mean he was drinking beers and having a grand old time lighting off fireworks over a lake. one landed right in the pile of fireworks he had stacked nearby, and, to his horror, right next to a 5 gallon gasoline can near the shore. luckily no harm done but the headlines would have read…
LOCAL EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN BURNED BEYOND RECOGNITION WHILE DRINKING AND LIGHTING FIREWORKS NEXT TO A GASOLINE CAN.
God protects fools and drunks and, as i have mentioned before, i had double protection that night.
