Unconscionable.

Two doctors held over bomb attacks | the Daily Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=465481&in_page_id=1766&ito=1490
Two doctors were among five people being held as terror suspects last night after the bomb plots in London and Glasgow.

One was one of two men who tried to drive a blazing Jeep packed with petrol, gas canisters and nails into Glasgow Airport on Saturday.

Read the article, see the photos. How would a physician, one sworn to defend and protect life, come to this? I don’t want to know.

From my cursory glance, the surviving individual (from all accounts not worthy of being addressed as a physician) has third degree burns on at least 70% of the body. (In one picture he’s wearing clothing that covers the back of the torso, so it’s possibly less or un-burned). Still horribly disfiguring injuries, and hard to survive.

  1. So this is the product of socialized medicine.

Seriously though, as much lack of faith people have in the healthcare system and all the “I hate doctors,” horror stories out there, its good to see people still shocked at a Physician actively trying to take life.

  2. Yeah! But which intelligence agency is going to help with the burn debridement?? I’ve heard many a confession come from those sessions.

Since it is socialized medicine, don’t they ration medication for those that have little chance for survival?

This guy must have missed some of the classes at suicide bombing school.
    Bomb making 101 F
    Choosing a target 102 D
Using the right approach 202 F
    Killing yourself 103

  3. Total grade for the day F. Must be from Texas school system and a graduate of the famous TAKS test.

  4. I made a comment to a previous post expressing surprise that “doctors” would attempt to destroy life. I’d like to refine that thought a bit. I’m not surprised that physicians such as Mengele would lose track of their humanity and pursue an awful line of research in a delusional purusuit of “life-saving” knowledge. I just can’t understand what would drive a physician to become a suicide bomber, to kill for the sake of it, or worse, for the sake of religion.

We have this tradition in the West that medical personnel in a war try to save lives regardless of which side they are on. I somehow doubt that Al-Qaida doctors (there’s an oximoron for you) live by the same code of ethics. If you are infected by the moral equivalence bug this thought might help.

  5. Not so hard to figure out. Since the NHS is a monopsony there are virtually no none foreign-born medical staff in most of England’s hospitals. If the local lads even bother with a medical degree they light out as soon as they can or, more likely, become lawyers (oops, “barristers”)

As a result for years foreign medical students are visa “fast tracked” into the UK in the vain attempt to attract medical staff.

Al Q watches which pipe the water flows through easiest the recruits medical students.

Maybe now some people will start to realize that poverty and lack of opportunity is not what makes someone want to kill as many innocents as possible in the name of a religion gone bad.

    Or not.

  6. I can’t see any reason to mitigate this guy’s pain from the burns. Let him experience Hell on Earth for a while before we execute him.

  7. Maybe I’m weird, but I would be no more surprised that a physician did this than any other upper middle class person. Historically speaking, it has always been the upper echelons of society that have been the most active in “revolutionary” movements. They tend to be indulging in fanciful thinking whereas the working man or woman is trying to make ends meet.

Of course, there are exceptions. But, if you look at revolutionary movements throughout history there are 3 factors that are always present: some sort of substance abuse; expectations rising faster than reality can meet; and, a bored, younger wealthy portion of society with no outlet for their political leanings. These young people tend to be easily manipulated.

I would be more surprised if the people involved were actually closer to the working class.

(In college, I spent way too much time studying revolutionary political and social movements.)
