Fair Warning

I’m swearing off coffee at work.

You’ve been warned.

Update, from the comments: ‘Women and Children to be most affected’.  Heh.

Comments

  1. Have you posted the appropriate warnings in the lounge?

  2. I swore off Diet Coke.

    Replaced it with Provigil.

$2 gets me a 12-pack of Diet Coke if I watch the sales.

$8 gets me a single tablet of Provigil.

Somehow I think I screwed up.

  3. Steve Lucas says:

Don’t. For the sake of the children and women, don’t. I tried once and after the second day my boss called me into the office and wanted to know what was wrong. WHAT DO YOU MEAN!!! He said that was what he was talking about, I explained about the coffee.

My going off coffee ended there and I have been able to cut back to two cups a day, plus diet pop. So, for the sake of the children and women, cut back, but don’t try to stop.

  4. No! Couldn’t you just cut back or make it 50-50 blend? I love the taste and smell of coffee. Hope I never have to give it up.

  5. I tried swearing off Diet Coke. It lasted about 2 shifts and then I was back at the vending machine, banging on its doors and asking for mercy.

    Good luck to you!

  6. Good luck!

  7. “And I beheld when [Gruntdoc embibeth not coffee], and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood”

    ;)

  8. Doood! Don’t do it!

  9. Nurse 1961 says:

Starting that New Year’s resolution a little early aren’t we?

I know just getting a jump on the competition, wouldn’t want those other pesky doc’s to beat you to the crabiness, short temper, and just down right nastiness that comes with quiting “cold Turkey”.

Oh how we look forward to January every year. Two weeks of “I’m gonna stick with it”, then two weeks of crabiness and nastiness “I’ve got to do this”, and the final resolution of, “I’m just not ready”.

I’ll warm up the coffee pot!!

  10. Just be sure and let us know how that works for you.

  11. Why hast thou forsaken liquid black which must flow-eth throughout the veins of many?

  12. I thought [THEY] decided, in this decade at least, that coffee was good for you? If not, I’m in B-I-G trouble….

  13. Why?

  14. Beary Potter says:

After your “How to make coffee” Hint? How does Mrs. GruntDoc feel about this??? It could be a L-O-N-G holiday season!

  15. Jim in Texas says:

Man, you are starting to sound like me. I quit caffine in a “sympathy move” when my wife had to give it up. It was about then I realized that semi-annoying on and off indistinct pain in my groin went away. My GP said that in the absence or any other protate problems it was probably that the caffine had been causing prostate swelling.

I still have some “combat caffine” (diet coke) when I’m on the road and I really, REALLY miss the smell and taste of leaded coffee.

And drinking decaf is like drinking near beer and kissing your sisters; what’s the purpose??
