Ramblings of an Emergency Physician in Texas
For the first time since I started here in the 57 room + hall beds ED, it’s empty. Eerie, really.
And uncomfortable in that ‘waiting for the other shoe to drop’ kind of way.

Don’t you hate that feeling? You can almost hear the ominous horror-movie-music in the background… and then comes that terrible feeling… a great disturbance in the force… like a a busload of plaintiff’s attorneys T-boning a busload of Jehovah’s Witnesses, right outside the ER.
The horror… the horror…
Take lots of pictures. No-one will ever believe it otherwise!

Had that happen here last week – for a full 18 minutes, there were no patients.
Hell, Monday night we had over 260 patients (were on Divert)…. come Tuesday night, there was almost 2 nurses assigned per patient :-)
Whoa… that is creepy! Did you take any more pics that you can share with us? I realize this was last year but the ominous music still sounds the same and is giving me that hair prickling (on my back) sensation…
It’s sorta like when the water pulls back from the beach right before the Tsunami hits….
Same here, 70-odd bed level 1 trauma center, no patients. Everyone was nervous and anticipating the major gang fight.
