What I would like to see is someone begin to talk about the principles under which some health care proposal would operate rather than some vague public vs private concept. We’ve seen the bad with both public and private health insurance, so it isn’t like one can make any sensible argument about one label or the other. Public healthcare (eg, Medicare) has a history of overpromising then underfunding. Private health insurance would like to insure only those who don’t need healthcare, and secondarily fight tooth and nail to deny payments.
