Fracking isn’t just for natural gas.

We all know oil production in Texas has soared in recent years. But putting the rise in graphic form shows just how phenomenal the energy turnaround has been: The surge looks exponential.

Out where I grew up they’re redrilling a lot of the original straight-down oil wells, doing the horzontal drilling with it then fracking. Played-out ares are now big producers.

  1. Not sure how you feel about the fracking process, but it seems pretty hazardous on several levels. The slurry of chemicals used will be in our water supplies (already is), and the never-ending carbon pumping into the atmosphere shows no sign of moderation. Wish we had a collective vision and world wide consensus to move to renewable energy, but we are instead ruining the health of our world. Cheap gas, woohoo!

  2. drcharles,

Frack away is my opinion. There is not a more concentrated, economical and clean energy source than fossil fuels…concentrated sunshine from millions of years ago.
Compared against the top-down progressive policies that created the ethanol/gasahol fiasco that simultaneously makes ADM rich, distorts our food supply, drives third world people into poverty and starvation while destroying our land with monocrop farming….oil is nothing short of a miracle.
The last thing we need is the “collective vision” of a bunch of grant whores and government rent-seekers. A free market will always find what is best, cheapest and cleanest.
