Terror on the Web

is the title of an interesting piece form The New Yorker.

It’s a long, detailed account of Islamic terrorism (mostly focused on recent events in Spain). It’s very interesting, and has a lot of details that I didn’t know. It’s not bedtime reading.

This is one of the most interesting posts I’ve read for ages, yet, strangely there are no comments on it. I guess it’s a case of ‘what can you say?’. Over here in the UK the media is full at the moment of outrage from ethnic groups about statistics which suggest police target muslims in their anti-terrorist policy. Years ago Welsh Nationalists were burning holiday homes bought up by rich English. I suppose the police would have been vilifed on the same grounds in they’d targetted Welshmen (or women), in their investigations. I guess you have to balance infringements of civil liberty, against the potential of a small group of zealous individuals to kill thousands of innocent people.
